| 2008 OLIVER HARDY FESTIVAL |
On Saturday October 4th the Ambrose Ransom Wright Camp 1914 staffed a booth at the annual Oliver Hardy festival held in Harlem, Georgia. Oliver Hardy senior was a sergeant in Company K, Ramsey Volunteers, the Sixteenth Georgia that mustered in Columbia County. His son, Oliver Hardy the comedian, is an honorary member of our camp.
Compatriots Jimmy McDaniel, Johnny Partridge, David Butler, Jerry Braddock, Gary Wilkes, Bob Gibson, Mike Lacefield, Dewey and Avery Hill worked a tent where various items were sold to the public. Confederate flags, stickers, and replica Confederate money was given to hundreds of cheerful children. Also, a list was written of nearly thirty men who visited our tent that have a strong interest in joining the SCV. Letters of invitation have been extended to those individuals.
